Description

Have fun making music through touch and skin-to-skin contact—no music knowledge or instruments necessary.

More details

The Frog Touch is for educators and musicians, offering a fun, intuitive way to play music—no instruments or music knowledge necessary. For all ages, in pairs or as a group.
Music is a universal language that helps us express how we feel, as our brain bridges the gap between sound and emotion, reducing stress and creating a sense of well-being. It improves cognitive function and can contribute to brain plasticity. Music also enhances memory and cognitive reserve.
Visual attention and discrimination, along with body and spatial awareness, as children find their position, choose their desired sensor(s), and touch one or two other participants in the designated location.
Auditory attention and discrimination, as children experiment with sounds, listen to what was played and touch sensors to extend musical sequences.
Rhythm, as children synchronize music with movements.
Auditory memory, as children repeat longer and longer musical sequences, which is said to have a positive transfer effect on children's phonological memory.
Socialization, as children connect with each other and take advantage of music's unifying effect.
Collaboration and cooperation, as children play together.
Musical timing, as children play together and keep a beat for a given amount of time.
Imagination, as children create, record, edit and play back original sequences.
How it works
To trigger sounds, simply be in contact with one of the washable, disinfectable silicone sensors and touch any part of another participant's skin (not clothing or hair). The box that tracks participants' movements is extremely precise and responsive, capturing every sensation to create outstanding musical performances.
IMPORTANT - There are two sensor shapes: frog feet, which allow participants to serve as a sort of bandleader, and lily pads. One player must be in contact with a frog foot sensor and another with a lily pad sensor for a sound to be made upon skin-to-skin contact.
For best results, place the sensors on a carpet; cold tiles or damp floors will reduce the sensors' sensitivity. We suggest using the In Motion set of 24 high-quality square mats (2077451) or round mats (2077469).
How many sounds or notes can be played? The software and app come with several libraries of chords, notes and rhythms in various styles—classical, jazz, pop, rock, etc.—and tones.
For special needs, the Frog Touch:
•Promotes tactile desensitization through skin-to-skin contact (first through the hands, then arms, legs and face) paired with positive reinforcers such as sounds and music.
•Facilitates cognitive remediation for DYS disorders by reducing their impact on day-to-day activities (attention, memory, language, executive function, visuospatial function, social cognition) without the use of screens.
•Offers a range of fun, inclusive exercises for people with physical or cognitive disabilities.
