How are Brault & Bouthillier’s products selected?
February 16, 2015 | Brault & Bouthillier
The expression “Seek and ye shall find” is particularly appropriate at Brault & Bouthillier! First, we seek: each year, our experts attend major trade shows around the world—including the Toy Industry Association Toy Fair in New York, the Spielwarenmesse in Nuremburg, Paperworld in Frankfurt, and the Salon du jouet in Drummondville—to discover new products and meet with local and international suppliers.
Of all the products at all those trade shows, how do we decide which ones to include in our collection?
We evaluate all supplier samples according to specific criteria, including:
- value for money
- durability
- safety
- versatility
- ease of handling
- clarity of rules/instructions
- quality of translation
- noise
- and, of course, educational and play value
But how do we know whether a product meets the criteria?
We play with it! At Brault & Bouthillier, that’s how we assess a product’s value and relevance.
Occasionally, products are tested in classrooms and educational services.
We set our high quality standard over 70 years ago, and we’ve maintained it to this day.
Every now and then we come across a need or an idea that’s not yet available on the market. When that happens, well, the real fun begins: we create the product ourselves! In recent years we’ve developed:
- Pocket dice
- Rebound game
- Curlinggame
- A set of mirrors
- and several other products
We also make a point of carrying products designed locally. Most categories in our collection feature products designed and/or manufactured locally, and we’re very proud of that.
To sum up, we believe that rigorous testing is a guarantee of quality. Together to learn, play, create!
